Project brief

Our new house hadn’t had work done to it for a very long time. The main bathroom was especially tired, so we started there. On top of finding a contractor we were keen for advice and tips on bathroom renovations and what the process looked like. The work involved installing a freestanding bath, a walk-in shower, replacing all the fittings and tiles as well as panelling around the room for that more traditional look. We wanted a contractor who really specialised in bathrooms and had interest in the job as I was conscious of a single bathroom renovation, some may not prioritise us, inevitably leading to being misquoted and delays.

“The Page were super helpful and made the whole process much easier and less stressful! From advice on supplies, to the process as a whole to then matching us to the best contractors. We couldn’t have been happier with who we chose in Altin. He not only did a great job but he and his team were so helpful, kind and keen to do it exactly as we wanted. They also went above what was asked of them as they were worried about the joists in the floor and ceiling so reinforced them, plus installed our oven as a favour.”

Product review

We used a range of suppliers in the end which has it’s pros and cons. Ordering from a variety does increase the chances of there being delays so order early if you do! I love our more unique Wren basin from The way we live London. We went to Drench for the majority of our shower supplies as we liked the matt black look for the shower screen and shower head and controls. The free standing bath was from Victorian Plumbing as they seem to have great options for more competitive prices especially for baths. To make sure the design was consistent, we used Drench and their matt black range again for the bath taps and controls. We found matt stone tiles harder to come across, but eventually found these from Stone Superstore (Chiltern Light Porcelain Tiles). Definitely check with your fitter a) how many tiles to order and b)if they have trade discounts with each store as Altin saved us a huge amount with his discounts.
