Project brief

As part of the wider renovation to our Victorian terraced house, @bananatree_house, we needed to renovate our dilapidated first floor bathroom, transforming it into a functional and timeless space. The current bathroom was underutilised and not guest-friendly, so we weren’t maximising its use. It had rotten floors and a large, wide bath with no shower. Part of the work would be removing a chimney breast to fit a proper bath so a contractor with structural experience was also required.

“The bathroom renovation was our first venture into renovations and The Page truly acted as our renovation coach. Their guidance in introducing us to potential contractors was invaluable. Prior to working with them, we had already spoken to several builders and the quotes varied significantly. There are a lot of cowboy builders out there. We spoke with three contractors recommended by The Page before selecting our chosen one. Thomas was exceptionally supportive in helping us find a cooperative contractor and team in line with our budget who were quick to finish and we’re so pleased with the work.”

Product review

We went to a range of suppliers and they have each contributed to what design and style we were after. Our tiles are from Ca’Pietra. The loo and vanity unit are from Burlington Bathrooms with the tap fittings and heated towel radiator from Crosswater. Our bath (a little too large in the end but the builder found an effective solution) was from Carron. We are glad that we invested in quality materials and fittings as we think that the bathroom will last longer with minimal wear and tear. We were sceptical about the maintenance of the brass taps but we love the look and think it adds to the character of the room!
